Elliot has more than 20 years of experience in rehabilitation and functional enhancement. After spending his early career frustrated by inconsistent success and limitations he found with traditional Physical Therapy approaches, Elliot dedicated himself to ongoing studying with the goal to provide elite level care to every patient who walked in the door, no matter what the diagnosis or condition. He then began taking courses focused on the Functional Manual Therapy® (FMT) approach, which integrates manual therapy, exercise, and body awareness training, and specialized in whole body care. Over the next 10+ years he continued his FMT studies and became one of only 25 therapists in the country to have completed fellowship level training in this area.

After spending multiple years teaching in NYU’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, Elliot now dedicates himself full time to patient care and clinical education in the FMT approach.

In continuing with his belief in lifelong learning, Elliot continues to take classes in Craniosacral Therapy, Visceral Mobilization, Neuromeningeal Manipulation and keeps up with the latest physical therapy and medical research.

Alison initially became interested in physical therapy while she was in her first career, architecture. During a five-year journey to overcome low back pain which started with a running injury, she finally began to fully recover with the help of a Manual Physical Therapist. After years of minimal improvement with exercises alone, she experienced first-hand the importance of skilled manual interventions.

While earning her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2013 from Long Island University, she was introduced to the Functional Manual Therapy® approach, and began working towards mastery of those skills.

In August 2016, she achieved the level of Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT) through the Institute of Physical Art (IPA), becoming one of only 370 people nationally to have reached this level of training at the time.

In addition to training in Functional Manual Therapy®, Alison has completed continuing education studies in Pelvic Health, Visceral Mobilization, Mulligan Concept, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (Graston Technique), Neural Manipulation, and Nutrition for managing Chronic Pain. Jinny McGivern, PT, DPT, CFMT is thrilled to be a part of the team at Kfmt! Since receiving her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Hunter College in 2014, Jinny has dedicated herself to extensive study of Functional Manual Therapy, including completing a two-year orthopedic residency program in this approach through the Institute of Physical Art (IPA). In August 2016, she achieved the level of Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT) through the IPA becoming one of only 300 people nationally to have reached this level of training.

After certification, Jinny joined the faculty of the IPA as an instructor for the Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation 1 (PNF 1) course. As a former dancer with a B.F.A in Dance Performance, Jinny brings a lifelong interest and diverse background in movement to the practice of physical therapy. Jinny recently completed a Pilates mat certification through the Kane School. Jinny periodically teaches pop up classes and workshops at the Kinected Center that focus on connecting how specific exercises can be used to improve functional movement.

The Functional Manual Therapy approach resonates strongly with Jinny because of its emphasis on treatment of the entire individual, rather than just an injured body part. Jinny uses a combination of manual therapy, muscle facilitation techniques, exercise, body mechanics training and patient education to help her clients uncover new options for movement and achieve their fullest potential. When she is not in the clinic, she is usually exploring functional movement while chasing her very active 5-year-old son.
